Ideal for walking, hiking, running :: On boats & watersports :: Stop sliding on tiles & floors :: Protection against allergens or for injured paws
Just like human shoes, the Grip Trex Boots by Ruff Wear are built on an anatomical mold which means the boot maintains a consistent size, shape and fit. When the going gets rough, these dog boots will protect your pup's paws with durable, grippy Vibram soles and breathable, mesh uppers. If your dog loves the water, the Grip Trex boots drain well so he won't be slogging around in wet boots all day (and the boots float!)
These short fitting boots are easy to put on with an expanding opening that you then cinch tight with Velcro straps. The grip cuff hugs the leg and helps the boots stay in place. Reflective stitching on the straps give added visibility.
Uses:
- Walking, Hiking & Running - the high performance Vibram® sole ensures grip, traction & durability and protects the paws from thorns, gravel & other sharp objects
- Water Sports & Boats - drainable air mesh uppers and a non-marking sole
- Home Use - stop dogs from sliding on tiles/floors and from sliding - the sole is grippy and non-marking
- Rehab, Allergies & Injured Paws - the boots protect sensitive pads and nails
- Police, Fire, SAR & Farm Dogs - used by working canine units around the world including recent use by NZ Police Dogs helping with the Victoria Bush Fires
You might also want to try a Grip Trex Boot Liner - which acts like a 'sock' wicking away moisture and minimises possible rubbing.

It is essential to choose the correct size for the boots to fit and stay on correctly
The boots should secure around the 'ankle' (i.e., above the dew claw but below the carpal pad) and should fit fairly snugly yet comfortably on your pup's paw.
The vast majority of dogs fit the same size on the front and back paws. To order a Set of 4 boots in the same size, click here. The back paws will never be more than just 1 size smaller - most dog's will fit the same size on all 4 paws.
Measuring your dog's paw width
- Have your pup stand on a flat surface and put a piece of paper under one of her front paws
- Lift her other front paw so her weight is placed soley on the paw being measured
- Mark the paper at her paw's widest points
- Measure the distance between these marks and compare this to the chart below
As an example, if her paw measured between 2.25" and 2.5", she would probably fit best into a xsmall boot.
Every paw is a bit different though!
We strongly recommend you try the boots on your dog indoors. There is no problem to exchange to another size as long as we get the boots back unused (just like if you were trying on shoes for yourself!) and free of dog hair.

- Don’t assume large dogs have large paws – measuring is critical to ensure a proper fit!
- Unlike human footwear, sizes are based on the width of the paw, not the length.
- Bark’n Boots are designed to fit a dogs anatomy – they’re not designed to be worn at a right angle like human footwear.
- The boots do not need to be pulled up past the carpal pad.

“My dog gets sore front paws when he goes out running with me so I was after something to alleviate this. When I saw these boots I was a bit sceptical but prepared to give them a try, despite my partner telling me not to be so bloomin stupid!
The boots arrived, I put them on him and he danced around like a fruitcake but after a few minutes wasn't bothered by them. I regularly take him running and they stay on OK - although you do have to put them on quite tightly and it's a bit trial and error the first couple of times.
However, they now stay on well and Eric runs like normal in them. I'm not a marathon runner and only go a few miles 3 times a week. Resting Eric never seemed to solve the worn paw problem but since he has had these boots for his front paws he has been fine.
The boots are incredibly well designed and almost look like a pair of Merrells. Yes, people do laugh when they see him out in them but Eric wears them with pride and ignores the comments! He's the best dressed Westie in this village.
The boots do work and both dog and owner couldn't be happier.

“I have a Golden retriever who is allergic to grass which is a problem as we live on a farm. She used to lag behind when we go for our daily walk but since wearing the Grip Tex boots she is very keen and is now always ahead. She chases rabbits and the boots stay on if they are done up tightly enough and enjoys her walk immensely because of the boots protecting her soft and sore feet. I would highly recommend these and will be purchasing more pairs in the future as she has worn out the first pair I purchased. They are extremely hard wearing and are ideal for rough terrain.”

“Hi to everyone at Canine Spirit,
Many thanks for your wonderful service at Christmas concerning a pair of XLarge red boots for my dog Algernon ( I'd originally ordered XXL, which would have resulted in disappointment and having to send them back and re order. However you advised me to change my order before despatch).
We used them for a couple of days and they rubbed so we left them off until his socks arrived (very promptly) and now he has now had nearly a months wear. The orthopaedic surgeon is very pleased with his progress and already he has stopped limping.
Also we were very glad to have them when we did as the salt they eventually put on the pavements due to the bad weather was literally rubbing salt into his wounds !
As promised I am attaching a couple of photos of Algy in his new boots going to the beach. Please let me know if you received them OK!
Algernon and Veronika”
