On a warm sunny day, help your dog beat the heat. The Swamp Cooler by Ruff Wear will help him stay cool while trekking the trails, playing on the beach, lazing in the garden or waiting their turn during outdoor agility trials.
It's easy to use - simply soak the coat and then gently wring out the excess water. Put the coat back on your dog. As your pup's body temperature rises, the heat is 'exchanged with the cool water in the coat and the heat is released as the water is evaporated. 'Recharge' the coat with more water to continue cooling your dog.
The Swamp Cooler has 3 layers:
- the top air-mesh layer releases heat
- the middle layer absorbs and stores cooling water
- the bottom layer uses the water to cool your dog
The light colour of the coat also reflects sunlight and UV rays for added sun protection.

To determine the best size for your dog, measure around the widest part of your dog's chest/rib cage then compare it to the table below - similar to how you would do your own chest measure.
If your dog has an ‘in-between' chest measure, choose the larger size for more coverage.

This vest is the best summer buy I have found for my dog. He plays hard so gets overheated real easy and then spends all night trying to cool down. I got this vest and had him wear it while he fetched the Frisbee and there was a huge difference. When we got home he was a little tired but not overheated or panting all night; after about 30 min. he could have gone right back outside to play some more. This vest reflects sunlight and when it needs to be 'recharged' I just get it wet while he's still wearing it. Perfect dog accessory for summer heat!!!
Great item The jacket is a real benefit for taking out my black dog for a walk. He used to get hot immediately, no longer.

“My dog and I do a lot Mountain biking, well she runs - I ride. In summer we have a problem with the overheating even I'm located in northern Europe, I have just tried the swamp cooler and must say I'm impressed, even though I was somewhat skeptical when I unpacked it. After a 20km ride on a warm afternoon, and a few stops and swims to cool down and recharge the swamp cooler my dog was in great shape was rearing to keep going. Also her recovery times were much shorter and she was noticeably more comfortable during the run.
The only thing is you get a few odd looks and questions as to why the dog has a coat on in summer, however after a quick explanation most other dog owners were suitably impressed.
I certainly would recommend this product as a good solution to keep dogs cool on warm summer days.
